We’ve all been there—sweating, shaking, rapid heartbeat, dry mouth and butterflies in the stomach. Every student has already suffered from the nightmare of having a so-called “test anxiety.” At AwesomeScores, we understand how jitters can affect someone when it comes to taking an exam.
According to studies, in small doses, exam anxiety can be a great motivation. However, for more extreme cases, nervousness could get you in a lot of trouble right before the exam. As a precaution, here are some of the things you can do to conquer your anxiety.

Preparation is the Key
Most of the time, you feel ready for a test—until you realize that you have forgotten something or you are not as prepared as you thought, and it is already too late to cram. If this happens in a vicious cycle, then you might be doing it all wrong. One way to avoid this is to revise your studying habits thoroughly. Find a strategy to focus more and relax.

Suit up for the Battle
Forgetting to bring something right before your exam can send you to a whole new level of getting haywire. That is why it is best to pack all the things you need the night before. Make a checklist if necessary.

A Good Food and Sleep Can Keep the Jitters Away
The night before the exam is not the time for you to cram. Instead make sure to sleep early. If you are too tired come examination time you won’t remember what you crammed the night before. Also, don’t forget to eat a healthy breakfast—you’ll need the energy to ace the test.

Exercise
During any stressful situation, a little brisk exercise will help you remain calm. Try running up and down the hall or do some jumping jacks if you start feeling overwhelmed.

Early Bird Catches the Worm
If you get to the examination venue early, you can get the best spot or seat, which in return can help you feel more relaxed.

Inhale, Exhale
Before the test, you can do some breathing exercise. Inhale through your nose deeply and slowly. Then, hold your breath for 3-4 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this several times. It keeps you from having a panic attack.

Handle your Nerves
Getting too nervous during your exams might send you to a black hole of jitters—with no escape. Worst, this could make you forget what you have reviewed. To overcome this situation, you have to stay positive. Tell yourself it is just a test. No matter what happens, everything will be fine. If you believe that you can do it, then there is no doubt that you can!
